Sick/Personal Days
All existing full-time employees will receive 40 hours of earned
sick time on January 1st of each year, while existing part-time and relief
employees will accrue one hour of earned sick time per 30 hours worked accruing
up to 40 hours of earned sick time per year. All
employees who are hired during the calendar year will accrue one hour of earned
sick time per 30 hours worked for the remainder of their first year of hire.
JRC’s calendar year for the purposes of earned sick time is January 1 –
December 31.
Earned sick time not utilized by part-time and relief employees
during the calendar year will be rolled over to the next calendar year as
earned sick time; but otherwise will not constitute “banked sick” time, as
defined in the JRC Employee Handbook.
Any rolled over earned sick time for part-time and relief employees will
count towards the 40 hours of accruable earned sick time for the next calendar
year (as the employee is only permitted to accrue up to 40 hours, which
includes any roll over time).
Pursuant to the Massachusetts earned sick time law; Employees may
not use earned sick time until 90 days after beginning employment with JRC,
which shall be their first date of actual work. Sick time can be used in
increments of hours or fractions of hours. The purpose of this is to provide
you with time off without loss of pay for qualified and unqualified reasons.
